Solutions to production problems

一.Edge sealing strip production out of the product appear burr phenomenon
The main reason is that there is burnt waste on the PVC extruder mould which has not been cleaned for a long time. Solution:Clean the plastic extruder mould thoroughly before placing it into production.

二. Poor toughness of sealing products:
This problem is mainly due to the insufficient amount of CPE added or the poor quality of CPE.



三.the edges of the sealing strip cut white (3:2 formula and 1:1 formula only)
1) Start by weighting down the colour powder by first mixing the base colour with titanium dioxide and then increasing the amount of colour powder.
2) Next, use a good quality PE wax to improve the surface gloss.
3) Increase the extrusion temperature or reduce the extrusion speed to promote plasticisation. The better the plasticisation, the better the result.

四.The finished edging strip pinhole, pitting, blistering (this problem is mainly caused by improper operation in the PVC edge banding extrusion line production process)
1) PVC mixing temperature is not appropriate, such as 3:2 formula mixing temperature is about 140 ℃, 2:1 formula is about 135 ℃, mixing temperature is not reasonable, will cause blistering, needle eye phenomenon.
2) When mixing, no attention was paid to details, resulting in the bag or the lid of the powdering cylinder not being cleaned and raw powder and impurities leaking in.
3) When mixing, the colour powder is not stirred evenly.
4) Bad sieve, there are large particles of calcium powder mixed into the ingredients, in the production process, often add 80-120 mesh sieve, in order to increase the pressure and sieve out too coarse impurities.
When the material is shiny on the cut side, it has been over-plasticised, so you can add some calcium powder and granulate it again. If you don’t change the screen in time, there will be inconsistencies in colour, pitting and pinholes on the surface.
Test for calcium powder:Sieve 500g of calcium powder with a 200 mesh sieve, then rinse it clear with water and you will find impurities and other large particles of calcium powder grains.

五. Blocking of the network during PVC extruder machine production
The main reason is that the calcium powder is wet and the moisture content of the calcium powder is too high.
First stir the calcium powder to 100°C and then allow the water to evaporate completely. Then add the PVC powder and stir.
In addition, there are coarse particles of calcium in the CPE that cannot be plasticised during production, which can also cause blockages. Then we can replace the CPE with good CPE; or we can find ways to improve the plasticisation of the PVC so that the calcium granules can be plasticised.

六. Discolouration of products
1) Poor quality or insufficient amount of stabilizer
Add 100-200g stabilising dose, if not, change it, otherwise, more slip will make the product less tough, stearic acid, PE wax add more, it will frost, unable to print, while the toughness becomes worse.
2) Mixing at a lower temperature than it should be will significantly reduce toughness.

七.the width of the sealing strip is not consistent (the size of the edge)
Uneven mixing, faulty temperature gauges, inaccurate displays or substandard staff work.
When the material is shiny on the cut side, it has been over-plasticised, so you can add some calcium powder and granulate it again. If you don’t change the screen in time, there will be inconsistencies in colour, pitting and pinholes on the surface.
